Meet the Family
Allison Siligato, Daughter
My name is Allie, Gail’s oldest child. Some also know me as ‘Allie Mae’ or ‘Yaya’. My mom, Gail, was a major driving factor in my decision to pursue healthcare as a career. She encouraged me to become a nursing assistant at Newport Hospital and I am forever grateful for her pushing me to do this. It was this decision that solidified my desire to work in a hospital. Her continued support through nursing school, my first months as a new grad nurse, and my job promotion is something I can never repay. Her encouragement to bettering myself and creating a career helping others is why it is so important to myself and my family that we continue providing this support to others. Our goal behind the creation of this foundation is to keep mom’s memory alive while providing financial assistance to those pursuing a career in health care. If we can provide even a fraction of the support mom provided me to others, we are certainly keeping her memory alive. Every healthcare system mom was a part of, is better because of her. We want to continue assisting new nurses to pursue careers that will leave lasting impressions on their own patients and healthcare systems
Maggie Kimball, Daughter
Hi, I’m Maggie, Gail’s daughter. My family and I started the G’A’iley Foundation for Nursing Excellence to honor the most remarkable woman we’ve ever known—our Gailey girl.
I’ve been surrounded by nurses my whole life—my mom, my sister, cousins, aunts, and close friends. Watching them lead with care, grit, and compassion has shaped who I am. My mom, though, had a way of connecting with people that was truly rare, professionally and personally. She was the heartbeat of every family gathering—the kind of person who made sure everyone felt seen, who brought energy, laughter, and a deep sense of presence wherever she went. Gail was the kind of person who made you feel safe, seen, and loved—whether you were her patient, her colleague, or her child. As a mom, she was my greatest role model and biggest cheerleader. As a nurse, she changed lives every day.
She was also fiercely driven. She never settled, never held back, and somehow managed to balance having a damn good time while always putting others first. And when it came to golf, well… she played hard, and she played to win—usually with a grin that told you she already knew she’d beat you with an ear piercing drive or a sly putt. She didn’t just play the game—she won, often and with style.
Our foundation honors Gail’s spirit by helping the next generation of nurses excel in their careers. Whether you’re playing in the tournament, sponsoring a hole, or simply making a donation—you’re making a real difference. You’re helping someone pursue their dream of becoming a nurse, and you’re helping us carry on a legacy built on love, service, and strength.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for being a part of this, and I’ll hope to see you on the greens
Peter Christiano, Son
Hi my name is Peter Christiano aka Gail’s “Sonny from her honey”. Many knew her as an accomplished professional who strived to provide nothing but the best for her patients, their families and her colleagues. To me though, she was just Gailey, a loving & compassionate person who knew how to bring fun everywhere she went. My family & I would like to thank all of the award winners, volunteers, donors, golfers, family and friends for taking time out of their lives to ensure that Gail’s passion for nursing excellence lives on
Doreen DeMatties, Wife
Ronald McDonald, Red, Doe or Snappie! Whatever she called me, it made me smile. I’ve known my gAiley since I was 19, so many years ago! I was immediately drawn to her charm, fun nature, energetic personality, wisdom, knowledge & of course those mischievous blue eyes! What an amazing, wonderful ride it has been.
Thank you for your persistence, love & support.
This foundation has been created to keep your passion for the nursing profession alive & to provide financial support to future nursing professionals.
Gailey

She was a mentor and leader who inspired all those around her to always achieve their personal and professional goals, while always encouraging people to be their true selves.
Her nursing career started as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she continued to grow her profession, ultimately leading her to become the Director of Surgical Services for various hospital organizations.

One of her most distinguished accomplishments was receiving the Nurse Leader of The Year award at the Rhode Island Nurses Association 2010 Nightingale Gala. She was also a proud nursing leader and was recognized with the Foundation of Teamwork award from Middlesex Hospital in 2021.
Her greatest passions were being a mother, enjoying the outdoors, traveling to the Final Four to cheer on the UCONN Women Huskies, making memories with family and friends, and playing cribbage and cornhole. She was an “A” golfer, having won countless tournaments, however beating her friendly rivals was her greatest joy. “Weekends were always up for grabs.”
Gail was very generous, having donated to many organizations near and dear to her heart such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Heart Association and Parkinson’s Foundation.
